ABSTRACT

Spontaneous rupture of a major artery is the most dramatic vascular complication associated with radiotherapy. Massive hemorrhage is fatal. Because bleeding sites are usually surgically inaccessible, endovascular therapy is the management of choice. We present a case of perforation of the internal carotid artery secondary to radiotherapy, with massive bleeding through stoma of larynx and mouth and hypovolemic shock, treated successfully with a covered stent.
