Colposcopy has a morphological and a functional aspect. In terms of early diagnostics and early therapy of malign processes, morphology plays the leading part. A stereoscopic and magnified view of the surfaces of affected organs provides insights into the tissue structure below. AColposcopist with basic training in Histology will be able to diagnose surface morphology with a high degree of accuracy. Hence the saying Histology is the basis for any successful Colposcopy!
