ABSTRACT

Background: Prevent and reduce the injury in rheumatoid arthritis has been the clinical focus in the last decade. A diagnosis in less than ninety days in the recent onset arthritis is essential for this purpose. Anticipate the evolutionary gravity to establish adequate treatment has been another challenge. Objective: To show through a retrospective analysis the sensitivity and specificity of an autoantibodies minimum panel established in 2011 at the National Institute of Rheumatology in patients with arthritis of recent onset. Results: We obtained sensitivity of 48.5% and a specificity of 98.2% in the first consultation date, both far superior to previous study protocols. Conclusions: Antibody selection was efficient, highly specific and had a useful diagnostic sensitivity.
