ABSTRACT

Objective: Narrate life and legacy of Pablo Mirizzi.
Design: Historic essay (9 references).
Setting: Department of Research, School of Medicine.
Results: Pablo Luis Mirizzi was born Cordova Argentina January 25th, 1893. He studied medicine in the School of Medical Sciences of Cordova graduating in 1915 with honours. He travelled abroad to study in the United States of America, returning to Cordova, where he practiced medicine the rest of his life. He is remembered and recognized by the introduction of the intraoperative colangiography and later by the syndrome that his name takes. He was a honorary member of multiple surgical societies, impelled the art and the sports on his province, as much as the medicine. He was a tough personality man, but noble and kind. He received the title of Master Surgeon of the Argentinean Society of Surgery in 1956. He passed away August 28th, 1964, letting a legacy of scientific and moral authority in general and hepatobiliary surgery.
