ABSTRACT
Previous science stage: Video assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) permit to perform important number of thoracic surgery with efficiency and security. It is reinforce up to literature review. Methods: We performed retrospective investigation in the National Centre for Endoscopic Surgery, in Havana, Cuba. The period in study included operated patients from 2003 to 2010. They were 327 patients. Informatics software to recollect variable in study, were take in consideration. SPSS for Windows 10.0 helped us to realize relevant statistical inference. Results: For all of these interventions: 54 and 273 were doing with diagnostics and therapeutics end respectively. From therapeutics surgeries: 55 pleurectomies, 120 simpathectomy, 29 non regular lung resection, 26 pleural effusion, 19 transthoracic vaguectomy, 14 mediastinal tumors resections, 9 pericardics windows, 2 malignant pleural mesotelioma and 2 mayor lung resections. Surgical time was 65 minutes as medial record. Drainage was used in 65% of patients with 36 hours as medial demurrage. We use prophylactics antibiotics in 37% and 0.9% of patient needed conventional antibiotic therapy. The 62.1% of patients do not use antibiotics. As complications we had 65 patients with subcutaneus emphysema and local port infections in 3 patients (0.9%). Only one of these patients needed to be operated again duo to massive hemorrhage and died two hours after that. Conclusions: Thoracoscopic approach permits to treat an important number and different diseases. Excellent security and efficiency, less complication, pain and better cosmetic post operatory appearance are the principle characteristics of this specifics access.REFERENCES
