ABSTRACT
The aim of this paper was to present a case of a female twenty-two years old patient with a uncommon large complex odontoma at the left maxilla. Odontomas are considered hamartomas rather than true neoplasms primarily comprised of enamel, dentin with variable amounts of pulp and cementum. Of slow-growing may reach up to 6 cm in diameter. They are classified in compound and complex odontomas. The first presents morphodifferentiation and histodifferentiation, and the second just histodifferentiation. The radiographic appearance is determined by the different stages that the lesion presents in its development. The etiology is still unknown and treatment is the conservative surgical enucleation, with the removal of the connective tissue capsule around it. We discuss the surgical procedures for surgical resection for the proximity to important anatomical structures and the course of patient treatment.
