Post-traumatic injury of the parotid duct. A case report and literature review

ABSTRACT

The facial penetrating trauma can injure key anatomic structures. Trauma to the parotid gland area can injure not only the gland itself but many adjacent anatomic structures. These kinds of injuries are not very common, but require a very careful diagnosis and treatment, that if it is not performed in the right way can yield complications like cutaneous salivary fistula.
