ABSTRACT

This essay aims to present the main aspects that psychologist professionals should be considered in those families who have a child with disabilities. A bibliographic review was carried out to gather information on how disability affects the family life and the family members in an individual way, this information includes different aspects that involves the family interaction and the how disability affects their quality of life. Analyzing different aspects in each family to define their characteristics and decide their needs for support and operation. Finally, addresses the subject of the intervention of different types of professionals in the families of people with a disability. Accentuating that psychology has knowledge, tools and techniques of intervention that can support these families. Promoting and suggesting the adaptation of children with disabilities, the committed participation of all family members, and the quality of life inside the family. Lastly, stands out importance of having the support of organizations for parents and professionals who work together to achieve the educational, community and social goal of integration for those who show disability and to their families.
