ABSTRACT

Introduction: Cerebrovascular disease (CVD) has been linked to depression, by various factors, from the type and location is presented and the consequences suffered by these patients, modifying the quality of life and the welfare of patients who have it. Mexico is in third place of death as complications from diabetes and hypertension, an important factor to trigger stroke which prevents self-care due to having periods of depression; this condition be adding to over time and now there are studies that prove its presence in the recovery period of patients. Objective: Was to determine if there is depression in people with stroke in the Neurology, Neurosurgery, 2nd Floor and Emergencies in the Instituto Nacional de Neurología y Neurocirugía “Manuel Velasco Suárez”, and triggers identify major causes of depression in patients with stroke in the services of hospitalization. So, how to determine the cause of higher incidence in patients with stroke and provide strategies for preventing and reducing depression. Methodology: Quantitative Study design: An observational, descriptive, transversal, was used Beck inventory and applies a brief questionnaire to meet the objectives set about identifying the causes of depression, eventually becomes analysis, using the statistical package SPSS version 16 with a statistical test of biserial correlation. Conclusions: With this panorama, it must continue its development in nursing research, identify current health problems, knowledge of these problems by avoiding major complications benefited us, having this study, in order to initiate the search for people with CVD, the factors that determine the onset of depression to improve the quality of care provided.
