ABSTRACT

Bladder Extrophy is a complex congenital deformity, which includes the musculoskeletal system, the pelvis anteriorly show pubis diastasis and posteriorly an abnormal external rotation. It has been proved that the pelvic osteotomy is important in this cases, it allows the urologic reconstruction to heal without tension. We describe our results in the orthopedic management of the bladder extrophy in the National Childrens Hospital, in Costa Rica, highlighting two aspects, the osteotomy type we use, which is our own description and that we perform this surgery during neonatal age. We have good results, with almost no complications, including 9 patients, from 9 to 18 years of follow up from their surgery, we analize the radiologic and functional results.
