ABSTRACT

The ectopic ovarian tissue is an extremely rare gynecological variation, which has been postulated as an alteration in the migration of germ cells during the embryonic period. First reported in 1864 by Grohe, histopathological confirmation is required to confirm the diagnosis. Initially it was divided into supernumerary and accessory ovary, Lachman and Berman currently defined it as ectopic tissue and subclassified: postoperative implant, inflammatory and true ectopic ovary. We report the case of a woman of 19 years, which debuted with sudden abdominal pain in the left iliac fossa, with presence of abundant free fluid in the cavity, during laparoscopic we found a preperitoneal giant serous cyst, unrelated to the ovaries. Reporting by pathology ovarian stroma consistent with follicular cysts, serous cystadenoma. In the literature are less than 5 cases like this, with true ectopic ovarian tissue, confirmed by pathology.
