ABSTRACT

Esophageal candidasis is an opportunistic infection, usually seen in inmunocompromised patients (congenital immune deficiencies, neoplasia, prolonged antibiotic use, immunosuppressive therapy). We present a case of esophageal candidasis in a 16 years old female with juvenile acne treated with 1% clindamycin phosphate, during 4 weeks prior to the appearance of sudden dysphagia. The upper G-I endoscopy and biopsies where diagnostic for Candida albicans esophagitis with an excellent response to a 10 days course treatment with oral fluconazole.
