Absceso renal en el embarazo

ABSTRACT
Urinary tract infections are facilitated by the morphologic
and functional changes that take place during pregnancy.
Acute pyelonephritis is the most frequent medical cause of
hospitalization in the pregnant woman and there can be
complications in 10% of the cases, putting both the life of
the fetus and the mother at risk.
We present the case of a patient whose pregnancy had the
complication of a right renal abscess, purulent cholecystitis,
and pneumonia. Multidisciplinary management was
successful in enabling the pregnancy to reach full
physiologic term with the birth of a healthy product.
The diagnostic and therapeutic protocols in this delicate
entity and its related morbidities were reviewed.
