ABSTRACT

The articles chosen in this occasion for the Continuous Medical Education section treat on some risks, pathology and special studies in newborns: obstetrical trauma (accidental ingestion of laryngoscope light source) volutrauma, alveolar rupture caused by mechanical ventilation mainly in hyaline membrane disease or in bronchoaspiration in prematures. A case review of the neonatal jaundice and articles upon special studies in newborns. Hepatobiliar gammagraphy to the differential diagnosis in biliar ducts atresia. The results of the enlargement of the neonatal screen, when to be asked and what should be expected from the ultrasonography of central nervous system. There is also an article concerning the risk factors to auditory disturbance in a group of 777 newborns. A summary was done and a comment of each article.
