ABSTRACT

Genital infection is a past, present and future health problem in adolescents and young adults. It is of special relevance the ignorance about transmission routes, the attitude of youth towards sexuality that excludes the possibility of risk because they think they are safe from contagion: Why it will happen to me? That perception of vulnerability that life grants to them by their nature, youth, vitality, and way of thinking, makes them believe that they will not get sick. It is important to be aware that adolescents have insufficient knowledge on the subject, and that there is a need to educate them about disease risk concepts, and carrying out educational activities aimed at regulating their conduct in the present and future. It is recommended carrying out promotion and prevention activities, developed according to the learning needs, maintaining and deepening the dissemination of knowledge about the prevention of these infections and where to go if someone has a problem of this nature.
