Key words:

metastasis to the breast, non-mammary neoplasms, breast lymphoma, lung carcinoma.

ABSTRACT

Objective: presentation of three cases of metastasis to the breast, two of lymphoma and one of lung carcinoma, and review of the literature.
Materials and methods: the cases of three patients referred to the breast imaging service with palpable nodules and antecedents of extramammary neoplasms are presented.
Results: Case 1: diffuse small B cell lymphoma (lymphoplasmacytic type). Case 2: follicular lymphoma with diffuse component. Case 3: bilateral breast biopsy with histopathological diagnosis of poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma, metastatic to the breasts, compatible with primary lung carcinoma.
Conclusion: metastasis to the breast of non-mammary neoplasms is an infrequent condition in the breast and has nonspecific image characteristics. However, it should be considered among differential diagnoses in patients with palpable nodules and antecedents of non-mammary neoplasms.
