ABSTRACT

A brief introduction to the theme of disasters was carried out. The United Nations Strategy for their confrontation and the challenge raised to these poor countries to mitigate the disasters effects was emphasized. The disasters definition and classification were also showed, as well as the explanation of terms: risk, danger or threat and vulnerability. Finally the methodology for the analysis and management of both risk and its perception was briefly outlined.
