Pediatric Wilms Tumor with Intracardiac and Intracaval Extension. Case Report

ABSTRACT
Wilms tumor is the most frequent kidney neoplasia in pediatric patients, and it can be associated with blood vessel
extension, particularly to the renal vein and inferior vena cava; it has been reported that 1% of these tumors can invade
right cardiac cavities in spite of preoperative chemotherapy. In addition to a literature review, we present the case of a
patient diagnosed with Wilms tumor and extension to superior vena cava and right atrium demonstrated by
echocardiographic imaging; in which after being treated unsuccessfully with a combination of chemotherapy and
radiotherapy was managed surgically with tumor mass excision and extracorporeal circulation.
