ABSTRACT

Wilms tumor is the most frequent kidney neoplasia in pediatric patients, and it can be associated with blood vessel extension, particularly to the renal vein and inferior vena cava; it has been reported that 1% of these tumors can invade right cardiac cavities in spite of preoperative chemotherapy. In addition to a literature review, we present the case of a patient diagnosed with Wilms tumor and extension to superior vena cava and right atrium demonstrated by echocardiographic imaging; in which after being treated unsuccessfully with a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy was managed surgically with tumor mass excision and extracorporeal circulation.
