Gastric Miofibroblastoma (Inflammatory Pseudotumor). A Case Report

ABSTRACT

The case of a 60 years old patient who attended the emergency room because of severe abdominal pain is presented. The case was defined as acute abdominal disorder, and it was decided to perform emergency surgical treatment. Histological examination of several specimens was performed: the gastric antrum, greater omentum, spleen and transverse colon segment. The diagnosis of this case was concluded as a gastric miofibroblastoma (inflammatory pseudotumor) with areas of ulceration and necrosis. The histology of the remaining specimens was compatible with normality. The aim is to provide a new case of a borderline tumor to the medical literature, given the complexity of performing a morphological diagnosis.
