ABSTRACT

The current status of the investigation about the impact in the Mexican families with an asthmatic patient is incipient, for this reason our initial investigation point has been the validation of two questionnaires: “Parental Perception of Symptoms and Incapacity” (PSI) and “Family Impact of the Children Bronchial Asthma – Revised” (IFABI-R) in order to get evaluation tools valid and reliable in this topic. The principal contribution of this paper is showing the latest developments on evaluation in the instrumental field of the quality of life of the caregiver of the patient with asthma in Mexico. The results show satisfactory psychometrical properties in both questionnaires for Mexican population. This outcome are considerate the first reliable dates in the perception of symptoms, and the family impact in this population.
