ABSTRACT

Time ago the cesarean section in a dead mother was usually done with the purpose to allow a separate burial; by now, the hope of the rare possibility to save the fetus, justifies the surgical procedure for delivery. Objective: to present a case of postmortem cesarean section with survival of the fetus. Case: a 27 years old female patient was admitted in emergency at the gynecoobstetrics service, with a diagnosis of 39 weeks pregnancy and delivery work, severe preeclamsia, convulsive crisis and massive bronchial aspiration. She died and a post mortem cesarean was performed succeeded with a survival fetus.
