ABSTRACT
Mucoceles located in the ventral surface of the tongue originating from anterior lingual salivary glands (Blandin-Nuhn) are rare. There are few reported cases and most are relatively small-sized, less than 20 mm in diameter. This report describes a large-sized mucocele of the ventral surface of the tongue in a male 19-year-old young adult who was treated by surgical excision of the lesion. The case reported is considered relevant because of the atypical size of the lesion. This article emphasizes the proper diagnosis of the lesion and its treatment to prevent recurrence or other less common complications arising from this entity.
