Subcondyar fracture reduction by intermaxilar screw. Case Report

ABSTRACT

Condyle fractures represent 35% of total mandibular fractures; considerable number despite many are not diagnosed specially during infancy. Management depends on the situation; it can be managed by an open approach or closed. When deciding to use open technique is presented among other difficulties, its reduction, particularly in high or intracapsular fractures. The present case employs an intermaxillar fixation screw to facilitate the manipulation and reduction of the condylar fragment, reducing considerably operative time. Accurate anatomical alignment and stabilization simplifies the technique of plate fixation.
