ABSTRACT

Reflections on the validity of the concept (and the discussion) in unitary psychosis are presented, with regard to diagnostic and clinical variability observed in a case. It was revised the psychopathology progress of a 25-year-old woman that initiated her condition with hyper-religiosity and messianic delusions; affective symptoms of depressive type were later added and finally of expansive type. She was admitted to a psychiatric hospital on three occasions, with diagnoses of schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and bipolar disorder at different times. She had favorable response to the pharmacological management despite the diagnostic variability.
