ABSTRACT

Erythema nodosum is a skin condition characterized clinically by the presence of multiple subcutaneous nodules, painful and erythematous, mainly affecting the lower extremities in anterior surface, bilaterally, but can also occur on the trunk and upper limbs. It appears suddenly, with spontaneous resolution. Although in most cases it´s etiology is not identified, it is known as a sign of systemic disease, associated with a wide variety of conditions including infections, sarcoidosis, collagen vascular diseases or drugs. We report the case of a 34-year-old woman with erythema nodosum secondary to infection with Entamoeba histolytica, who had a fair evolution after treatment.
