Vascular endothelial growth factor patch, ulcers in lower extremities, “VEGF”.

ABSTRACT

Introduction. The ulcerations in low extremities are nowadays a recurrent suffering. Some authors have suggested that in their physiopathology participate neuropathic, vascular and infectious factors. Material and method. We used “patch” of vascular endothelial growth factor (“VEGF”) in ulcers of lower extremities in 25 cases and compared with other 25 cases of an homogeneous population without “VEGF” and only a placebo. Results. In two months of clinical and laboratorial follow-up the group with VEGF have an improvement of the cicatrisation in 96% and the group without “VEGF” only of 60% with a “p” statistically of 0.01 for “VEGF-patch”. Conclusion. We proposed the new radiopharmeutical for the cicatrisation of ulcers in lower extremities.
