Wilson-Mikity syndrome. A case report

ABSTRACT

Wilson-Mikity syndrome is a chronic lung disease of the premature newborn, less than 32 weeks of pregnancy and 1,500 grams, with atypical presentation and radiological diagnosis, characterized by early of cystic interstitial emphysema, without antecedent of mechanic ventilation or hyaline membrane disease. We report a newborn case with progressive respiratory distress, in which was confirmed the diagnosis of Wilson-Mikity syndrome.
