ABSTRACT
As its name suggests, the nasopalatine or incisive duct cyst is a cyst located in the nasopalatine duct of the upper maxilla. Diagnosis is most frequently achieved through X-rays, unless the size of the cyst is considerable and causes swelling in the vestibular plate of the maxilla and/or in the region of the palatine papilla, even causing pain. It is more common in males, in the third to fifth decade of life. The aim of the present study is to report the case of a male patient who attended a dental appointment after suffering two years of swelling in the anterior maxillary region caused by blunt trauma. The lesion was slow-growing, causing upper-lip protrusion and the associated unsightly appearance. Furthermore, we describe the treatment performed at the Hospital Juárez de Mexico, along with the patient’s postoperative evolution.
