ABSTRACT

Thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms are relatively frequent conditions that are often medically managed because of the poor outcome of conventional surgical repair. Endovascular grafting of the thoracic aorta is gaining widespread acceptance for the treatment of aneurysms due to its reduced invasiveness, however there are still anatomic limitations. In regards to improving anatomic conditions, it is sometimes necessary to accomplish the endovascular procedures with previous revascularization of the supra-aortic and visceral trunks. We describe a successful hybrid technique combining open and endovascular approaches for repair of aortic type I thoracoabdominal aneurysm involving the celiac trunk and mesenteric. Hybrid vascular procedures are feasible and useful to solve complex vascular pathology without cross clamping of the aorta with a low mortality and morbility rates. Hybrid repair of toracoabdominal aneurysm is feasible and can be accomplished with low rates of perioperative morbility and mortality.
