ABSTRACT

Objective: To present the case of a young patient with a postraumatic pseudoaneurysm on the superficial femoral artery, complicated by ischemia of the limb.
Case report: Background: We review the different therapeutic possibilities comparing their advantages and disadvantages like: guided compression, thrombin injection, exclusion with an endoprosthesis, and surgical reparation. Method: We decided an endovascular approach, placing a nitinol covered Stent with PTFEe, and dual antiagregant therapy with clopidogrel and acetylsalicylic acid. Results: after the exclusion of the pseudoaneurysm the patient recovered the distal tibial pulses, with an 0.8 ABI, the 12 month ultrasonografic control demonstrated the Stent permeability.
Conclusion: The exclusion of the pseudoaneurysm with covered Stents is a useful alternative, with similar results as with surgical reparation. Even though, the risk of thrombosis is a factor that should be vigilated and prevented.
