ABSTRACT

There are multiple communications regarding the different presentations of traumatic diaphragmatic hernias, but there are only a few mentions of its association with an iatrogenic fecopneumothorax. This daunting association, which can culminate in a catastrophe, is seldom described, reason that prompts our report. We present the case of a patient with a history of an automobile accident that produced a traumatic left diaphragmatic hernia, followed by a iatrogenic colonic perforation inside the thoracic cavity and thoraco-abdominal wall fasciitis, among other complications; all eventually resolved satisfactorily.
