This case study was performed on a person with a disease involving the aortic valve, replaced by a biological prosthesis, with the goal of providing nursing care using the nursing process based on the theoretical concepts of Virginia Henderson. The methodology was developed in a span of five months, in adult cardiology service B and Postsurgical Intensive Care at the National Institute of Cardiology Ignacio Chavez, once the person leave the hospital, case study continued through telephone communication. For its development the needs of the individual were observed and analyzed and nursing diagnoses were designed based on the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association taxonomy; strategies to promote recovery were planned and evaluated.
