ABSTRACT

Meningitis is the inflammation process in the leptomeninges, may be caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Most cases appear in children under 10 years, its early diagnosis and initiation of appropriate therapy is important for the prognosis of the patient, since it can lead to serious sequelae, motor, cognitive, seizures and even death. Hence the importance of having it always present when we attend patients with fever, altered consciousness, seizure, vomiting.
