ABSTRACT

Among the strategies for the prevention of VAP mentioned oral hygiene, for that we did a review of the main methods and antiseptics used to carry out this preventive measure, its effectiveness concluded that the care, cleaning and oral antisepsis is an effective strategy to prevent VAP. Chlorhexidine was effective in reducing the colonization of the oropharynx and the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia.
