Complement activation.

ABSTRACT

The complement system is a functional system of plasmatic protein and a small proportion of membrane proteins that interact each other in a regulated form and participate in many of the effector functions of the natural and acquired immunity. More than 30 proteins that activate sequentially with others through three fundamental routes of activation: lecithin pathway, classical and alternative pathway. Among its functions there are the lysis of bacteria and virus, to participate in the inflammatory processes, facilitate the chemotaxis and vasodilatation, opsonization of antigens, virus neutralization, and the immune complexes solubilization.
