ABSTRACT

A 42 year-old male, immunocompetent, with skin type V of Fitzpatrick classification, had a one-year history of onycholysis and melanonychia of both first toenails. The mycological study showed KOH with pigmented hyphae and Alternaria alternata was isolated.


Key words: fungal melanonychia, black fungi, Alternaria alternata.
