Results in the application of tissue adhesive in traumatic and surgical wounds

ABSTRACT

Integral General Stomatologists must have knowledge about the application of Tisuacryl tissue adhesive, as an alternative to treatment in the synthesis of the buccal mucosa wound and skin, elective or urgent, of surgical or traumatic origin. It was evaluated the results in the application of Tisuacryl in the synthesis of traumatic and surgical wounds in the buccal mucosa and skin in Primary Care. It was performed an observational, descriptive, longitudinal and prospective study in the period from January 2006 to December 2008. The work universe was constituted of 171 patients of different sexes who attended “Enrique Núñez” Dental Clinic in Madruga municipality, province Mayabeque through external consultation or emergency room with wounds of traumatic and surgical origin of the buccal mucosa and skin. Data were collected in the control registers and processed through Microsoft Excel electronic tabulator, output data tables were prepared and the summary measure is given in numbers and in percentage. The higher incidence of wounds corresponded to 6cm, followed by wounds 4.5 cm in length. Surgical wounds of the buccal mucosa were the most frequent in the initial clinical evaluation. Tisuacryl was effective in the treatment of wounds in the buccal mucosa and skin as an alternative to treatment in General Integral Stomatology services. Patients showed satisfaction at the treatment received.
