ABSTRACT

The cervical pregnancy is an rare manner of ectopic pregnancy located on the endocervical canal coating, being present on less than 1% of ectopic pregnancy with an approximate incidence of 1 in 9000 pregnancies. Its most frequently present in those pregnancies accomplished through assisted reproduction techniques, occurring in 0.1% of the fertilization in vitro pregnancies. Its etiology is unknown; however, the antecedents of cervical pathology and cervical or uterine surgery, previous pregnancy background, cesarean section or curettage have been associated. Another theory is the rapid transport of the fecunded egg on the endocervical canal before is capable of nesting or due to a non-receptive endometrium.
