ABSTRACT

Intracranial dermoid cysts are rare congenital lesions that originate from the inclusion of ectodermal structures when the neural groove is enclosed during the embrionary stage. Meningiomas are usually benign tumors most frequently associated with the duramater. We present the first known case of a malignant intraventricular meningioma associated with an intracranial dermoid cyst. Patient was a male in the fifth decade of life that had headache in the last two years and disorder of recent memory in the last eight months. Neuroimaging estudies disclosed the presence of two different intracranial lesions, one in the subtemporal region and the other was intraventricular. Surgery was performed and neuropathological study and histological results revealed that subtemporal lesion corresponded to a dermoid cyst and the other lesion to a malignant intraventricular meningioma.
