Retrospective statistical study of adult patients that underwent orthognatic surgery at the Hospital de Especialidades of CMN SXXI, IMSS during 1999-2001

ABSTRACT

An statistical study describing the frequency of dentofacial deformities and corrective orthognatic surgery at Servicio de Cirugia Maxilofacial of CMN Siglo XXI, IMSS. From January 1999 to December 2001. From 326 interventions, 214 patients (65.6%) with 240 surgical procedures (simple, double and complex) were treated in the period. Mandibular osteotomies with the sagittal ascendant ramus technique for the reduction of mandibular prognathism type I-IV and mentonian were the most used (66%). Lefort 1 osteotomy and anterior segments of superior maxillae (26%) and inferior subapical (8%). A comparative analysis with the performance in 1996 according to SIMO allowed an evaluation of performance for the re-engineering of surgical attention process, quality surgical efficiency and more productivity that started in July 1988.
