ABSTRACT

PACS and RIS are part of the new technology used for the efficient medical administration of Radiology Departments. It is possible to eliminate the use of radiographic film because images of the different equipments are digitally acquired and stored in special archive servers before they are distributed to the workstations for interpretation by the radiologists who will perform digital reports. Images and reports can also be distributed and retrieved in different visualization stations in the hospital by the referring physicians, it is also possible by teleradiology to retrieve them outside to authorized personal computers.
