ABSTRACT

Late presentation congenital diaphragmatic hernias are those that are diagnosed after the neonatal period because of initial symptoms throughout this time or those hernias that are found as an incidental diagnosis in a chest x ray after the neonatal period. The defect is identical in newborn and older children, nevertheless symptoms, surgical conduct and complications may vary considerably in older patients. The case of a 4 year-old child in whom the diagnosis of a late presentation congenital diaphragmatic hernia was made during a clinical workup for abdominal pain is presented, along its treatment, evolution and a review of the topic.
