Renal Cancer in Kidney with Crossed Fused Ectopia: Case Report and Review of the Literature

ABSTRACT
Background: The crossed renal ectopia is a rare congenital
anomaly, 90% of the cases present fused. Generally present
asymptomatic and had been diagnosed because of secondary
complications or as an incidental finding.
Clinical case: We report a 70-year-old woman with a renal tumor
in a crossed fused ectopic kidney presented with abdominal pain,
hematuria and weight loss. She underwent to radical nephrectomy
with histological report of renal cell carcinoma. In the follow up to
12 months without evidence of recurrence.
Conclusions: The treatment is surgical, preserving healthy kidney
and thereby the quality of life of patients.
