ABSTRACT

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune syndrome, characterized by a chronic inflammation of joints. This disease affects 1 % of the population and possesses a high level of morbidity. In his etiology there affect diverse environmental, genetic and immunological factors. Several cellular lineages of the immune system improve the chronic inflammation developed in articulations, mainly T cells. The treatment of RA consists of medicines that calm the pain, and that are indicated opportunely by means of the decrease of the inflammation, controlling this way the progression of the injured to articulate, nevertheless many people present the disadvantage of presenting adverse effects. With the advances at autoimmunity’s area, new variants of treatments have developed for these illnesses. Pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis had been thoroughly studied, and main molecules involved in this process had been elucidated, which constitute therapeutic focus for the treatment of this autoimmune disorder.
