Obesity: high-risk disease in reproductive life of women

ABSTRACT

Background: the incidence of obesity is growing rapidly in world population; proportionally the most frequent disease in women of childbearing age appears raising the risks and complications in this population, compromising their reproductive health. Knowledge about complications and risks, appearing in this morbid condition, as well as its etiopathology, can help minimize the consequences derived thereof.
Objective: to analyze through the found evidence in literature the prejudices obesity originates in women of childbearing age.
Development: an exhaustive and updated bibliographical review was made about the risks, causes and complications that appear in women of childbearing age suffering from obesity and the consequences for their descendants.
Conclusions: the scientific evidences summarized in the review show that obesity is a morbid condition causing multiple complications to women during their reproductive life and their descendants.
