ABSTRACT

Gastroesophageal reflux disease significantly affects a large percentage of patients who present with disease symptoms which affect their quality of life. This can occur with a variety atypics symptoms which are normally difficult to diagnose due to the absence of typical symptoms. The diagnostic process is further complicated by the lack of a specific test for the identification of gastroesophageal reflux disease as the cause of the reported symptoms. It is known that, at present, is one of the most prevalent diseases encountered by primary care physicians and gastroenterologists in the Western world.
