Inguinal hernia, state of the art.

ABSTRACT

Objective:The purpose of this work is to know the development of inguinal hernia repair from the description of E. Bassini to date.
Data collection:Article review and worldwide experience with current techniques.
Result. All medical discussion on hernioplasty results has reached a point where disease recurrence has been abated to levels below 0.5%, regardless of the technique employed, as long as adequate prosthetic materials are utilized. Current discussion deals with issues relative with both long-term complications (pain), and the use of laparoscopic techniques, bearing in mind the learning curves.
Conclusion:It is necessary to know the surgical procedures for a correct solution of this problem, which can be considered a health problem, while defining a gold standard.
