Malignant Hyperthermia. A case report

ABSTRACT

The case of a black patient, female, 2 years old with previous history of health is presented. She came to emergency department of General Teaching Hospital of Moron "Roberto Rodriguez Fernandez" for presenting an abscess in the right posterolateral side of the right thigh, the patient was announced for incision and drainage. The patient arrived to the Surgery Room with deep venous approach in the left femoral, conscious, tearful. She was moved to the Operating Room and it was decided General Inhalation Anesthesia with halothane, previous monitoring of cardiovascular function with DOCTUS VI, she fall slept with that halogen at 5% and 3l min of O2, once we reached to the hypnosis, it was reduced at 2% and kept to this percent, the surgery time was 10 min, at the end of the surgery, the girl began with fasciculations and rigidity of the upper and lower limbs in flexion, a sudden increase of body temperature, was kept the spontaneous ventilation all the time, quickly it was proceed to make differential diagnosis and it was diagnosed as Malignant Hyperthermia, Anesthetic Fever or Malignant Fever.
