ABSTRACT

Cutaneous melanoma is a very aggressive type of skin cancer, whose incidence and mortality are in marked rise. Although its diagnoses rates have also been higher, improved understanding of melanoma tumorigenesis is needed, in order to incorporate new therapeutic options adequately in the practice, which in addition to conventional treatment can increase the margins of the management of this cancer. This article reviews melanoma epidemiology, pathogenesis and clinical diagnoses with a special focus on the latest tendencies in the last years.
