ABSTRACT

Gastrointestinal bleeding is a manifestation of a potentially serious condition that should be investigated in depth. Determining the cause is critical to establishing a scheme suitable for treating and preventing future episodes. However, sometimes it is not easy to establish neither the site nor the cause of blood loss. In some circumstances do not exist clinically evident bleeding manifestations, so that these cases are classified as occult or obscure gastrointestinal bleeding.
